Hello!
Mauro here!
It’s February and we already entered and started to “touch” this new year.
It’s like when you enter in a space you have never been before, like a room, a cafe, a gym. You always have some expectation that, eventually, will be met or not.
I’m not going to use the word “consequences” even if it may be the first that came to your mind. It has this “negative vibe” that I do not want here.
What I mean is that I believe the everything “adds up”, leaves a scent trail. Sometimes, we cross these trails and something noteworthy happens without an apparent reason.
In case you missed the February 2022 edition about Signals.
This is a constant in my life, I don’t know how this works for you and would be great if you are up to share your thoughts.
Again, I encourage you to look at this objectively, I’m not talking about conjuring magic, it is simply how life works.
I know what you are thinking: such a long preamble just to arrive to this.
I can understand. However, even though this last sketchnote is the the juicy one, the path that took us here is even more important.
I’m almost sure that you skimmed the second sketchnote, right? Yeah, why not? It looks kind of TV-DHTTR (Too Verbose - Don’t Have Time To Read), I may agree.
However, it is not just a list of words, it is in fact a map.
Just try this, it’ll take a few minutes of your time, you can do this while commuting.
Where are you now? What’s happening? Are you having a momentum or you are in a shit-storm or everything is flat calm?
Can you spot the conjuncture that took you here? Of course you can!
Now, what are the conditions that created the conjuncture? There they are!
Last step, look at the second sketchnote, can you say what you did right there, right in that moment?
As usual, you can just scratch the surface and go on or you can put some reflections in this and, if you do, you won’t regret it.
That’s it for now. I believe we have some material to ponder for a while!
Have you downloaded the app? I really recommend it and you can use it to access the chat.
Signals & Dots
#inspitation: Synchronicity and Creativity
This is the pdf with the article I was talking about in the sketchnote above.
#tool: Accessible Color Palette
I’m notoriously not that good in using colors and I find this tool very very good. This can particularly helpful when you need to produce visuals that need to meet WCAG standards.
#make: Thousands of Structures Populate a Growing Whimsical Metropolis in Charles Young’s Miniature Cities
Speaking about color palettes: this is Charles Young’s work, once monocromatic, who was inspired by Sanzo Wada’s book A Dictionary of Color Combinations.
I’m pretty sure you’ll get a lot of ideas only looking at this, am I right?
#make: Growing Crystals at home
I want to try this so badly since ages! Have you ever done something like this? Let me know.
The Catch All
Here is a thing that intrigues me.
Besides using fabric I wonder if I can use this technique for recycling stuff like paper or plastic to make something useful.
I’m going to work on this. and I’ll share with you what I do. Probably in the chat before waiting the next month.
