Mauro, so much of our modern ways of consumption and action center on quick fixes and short cuts but I think you’re right that deep understanding is needed.
I’m trying to be conscious of this in my reading and how I solve problems with thoughtfulness. It’s not easy but my experiments in this way have helped.
Thank for the comment Mike! You put your finger on a critical point: "my experiments in this way have helped". I believe the "my experiment" part is what that count, we are different and we experience and practice thoughtfulness in different ways.
We are talking about being mindful to be mindful which is not and easy thing these days.
Interesting piece as always! This made me think about two things: System Thinking as a way to combat band-aid solutions, and the book "Creative Change", in it the author (Jennifer Mueller) makes the same observation about the difficulty to accept uncertainty, and give some tips on how to get creative ideas accepted in the corporate world (e.g. making analogy to make the idea sound more familiar, using "change circle" groups etc...), a recommended read!
Thank you Lud. I like that you mentioned System Thinking. I'm thinking to an "extension" of the post about arrows to show how I use the in a Causal Loop Diagram.
I can relate to your last sentence, problem solving is becoming increasingly difficult. Very often, before working on the real problem you have to devote an important deal of time to resolve "human frictions" and resistances.

I put the book in my must-read list!
Looking forward to the causal loop diagram post :)

Muchas gracias Carlos!
